“Obsessions: A Self Portrait”

As the central concept of the Openhouse Issue 25, the exhibition explores the fine line between passion and obsession—and those who walk it.

The installation, curated by Pernille Vest, reflects precisely this: the many shapes, forms, and tones of the obsessions that inhabit our daily lives, making them richer, and often revealing the deeper truths we quietly carry within ourselves.

Organised in collaboration with Mango Home, the show is on view from Wednesday, April 22 at 10 am until Thursday, April 23 at 5 pm.
REBIRTH

SM BUREAU, Design Gallery,
19 March, 2026  - 23 May, 2026.
With the arrival of spring, SM Bureau presented a new chapter ̶ a reflection on renewal, movement, and the quiet return of life. Each piece on view embodies a threshold: between dormancy and awakening, silence and vibration, permanence and impermanence.

Materials are not fixed; they breathe, shift, and rejoin the cycles of nature. Stone remembers, wood expands, clay transforms ̶ al participating in the rhythm of becoming.

The exhibition is both a meditation and an invitation: to witness matter not as static, but as alive, in dialogue with time, seasons, and our own sense of presence.

STUDIO TORBINA X HOMIES X PRINTEMPS

Printemps, Paris, France,
22 December, 2025  - 1 March, 2026

The Burnt Wood Collection by Studio Torbina is a sculptural exploration of material transformation, where fire becomes both a tool and a language. Composed of a chair, stool, bench, and mirror, the collection is inspired by traditional Japanese wood-burning techniques, embracing the dialogue between control and chance, precision and imperfection.

Presented at Printemps as part of Homies showcase, each piece carries a quiet tension between strength and fragility. The chair and stool explore balance and intimacy of scale, the bench extends the material narrative into a shared, horizontal form, and the mirror introduces reflection as a counterpoint to the deep, charred surfaces — inviting both physical and introspective engagement.

QUIET FORCES
SM BUREAU, Design Gallery,
14 November, 2025  - 28 February, 2026.
For this winter curation , SM Bureau unveils a new exhibition where dark wood and metal become the raw language of a sensitive dialogue.

Here, the quiet strength of matter meets the rigor of lines, the silence of forms, and the density of textures.

This new chapter embraces a colder, almost mineral aesthetic, revealing essential beauty — found in details, in precise gestures, in the sincerity of materials.

Curation by SM BUREAU
Palais Brongniart, Paris
22 - 26 October, 2025

On the occasion, SM BUREAU introduces the most recent pieces included in SOUL OF MATIERE curation previously shown at the gallery.

Studio Torbina presents a series of objects where wood, stone, and form converse with quiet precision. A silent yet vibrant dialogue unfolds between the hand that shapes and the matter that yields.

The studio delves into the raw soul of materials — their weight, their grain, their silent presence. Here, material is not just a medium; it is a language. Each piece strikes a balance between texture and weight, restraint and sensitivity — where structure becomes poetry.
